Summer is almost here and that means it's time to pick up the books you want to read for when you're vacationing whether you're vacationing in another place or you just have some free time and want to spend it in your bed.

So here are 5 recommendations of books that made me learn, feel happy, sad, mad and everything in between.

A Harvest of Thorns by Corban Addison

When I found out it was a novel about fast fashion I didn't hesitate in buying it and I was not wrong. Such a raw, moving, shocking, informative novel. If you're looking to learn something you didn't know, this is it.

I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

Love, family, identity struggles, this book has it all. I was so obsessed with the way it's written.

Flux by Orion Carloto

Miss Orion delivered her whole ass heart in this book, everything about falling in and out of love. Heartbreak and ache.

Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

I read this book in the Summer of '15, under a tree, eating cherries and a park full of people that could see me laugh and cry my eyes out to this book. Couldn't leave it and then I didn't want to finish it. It's just so damn precious.

We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

It's a book from the Ted Talk Chimmanda did. Read it, watch it, listen to it, whatever you want but please, read it, listen or watch it.

La Noche de Tlatelolco - Elena Poniatowska

In Mexico we've always been taught about October 2nd, 1968 and how thousands of students were massacred. This book is just testimonials, the reasons, the situations and the hell people had to go through in these times.

All of these mixed with the fact that the government party that caused this is STILL in charge of our country and students are still being killed and missing.

Heavy heart since the beginning to the end.
